Nokia’s CES invites suggests Windows Phone for US

Nokia has started sending invites to its event on Jan 9th during CES 2012 in Las Vegas. The event is speculated to be the launch of Nokia’s Lumia devices in the US. The invite “Witness the Amazing Everyday”, suggests a clear message about the launch of Lumia devices which are marketed by the slogan “Amazing Everyday”. Lumia 800 and Lumia 710 pre-orders in India begin

After Nokia announced the Lumia phones in India last month, the phones are now officially up for pre-order. Nokia is taking pre-orders of Lumia 800 and Lumia 710 across all outlets of Nokia Priority Dealers in India. The exact pricing of the phones is not yet announced, but on talking to one of the Priority Dealers, we are told that Lumia 800 would retail at Rs.29,000 while the Lumia 710 would be available at Rs.22,000. Nokia and Windows Phone enthusiast can reserve their Lumia device for a booking amount of Rs.1000.

For those who don’t know, Lumia 800 and Lumia 710 are the first Windows Phone devices from Nokia. Lumia 800 is powered by a single core 1.4GHz processor and would run Windows Phone 7.5 Mango. It has an 8MP snapper which records HD videos at 720p. Lumia 710 is a stripped down version of Lumia 800 sporting a 5MP camera and  same 3.7″ ClearBlack display. Both phones bring various Windows Phone goodies like People Hub while Nokia Drive navigation, Nokia Music and Sports Hub powered by ESPN.

Nokia launches Asha 200 and Asha 300 phones in India

After announcing its mid and low-range ‘Asha’ series a few weeks back, Nokia has launched two phones under the umbrella in India. These phones – Asha 200 and Asha 300 will run on Symbian S40.

Asha 200 is a dual-sim QWERTY phone featuring a 2.4 inch, QVGA display (320*240). Its 10MB internal memory is tad too low but thanks to the microSD support, you can expand it upto 32GB. The phone integrates social networks like Facebook and Twitter along with email. The Easy Swap access allows you to swap SIM cards without the need to switching off the phone or removing the back cover. It has a 2MP camera. The connectivity options include Bluwtooth and EDGE. No front camera, WLAN or 3G here. Priced Rs. 4759.

Asha 300 is a Touch and Type phone with 2.4-inch resistive touchscreen of 240 x 320 pixel resolution. At its price point, 300 would probably be the cheapest 1GHz processor phone. Connectivity options include Bluetooth 2.1, micro USB, WLAN and 3G. The 5MP camera produces quality pictures which can be easily edited and shared on social networks from the phone. Priced Rs. 7409.

Both phones would go on sale in mid-December.

Nokia France head tips of high-end Lumia devices, Windows 8 tablets

Although the current Windows 7 lineup of Nokia devices are yet to be available in various parts of the world, but its France head doesn’t shy off vaunting the rabbit in Nokia’s hat. Talking at an interview with French Newspaper LesEchos, he hinted at future lineup of Lumia devices as well as a Windows 8 powered tablet. Read more
