Toshiba Thrive hits pre-order, starts at $429

We have already seen J&R taking pre-orders for Toshiba Thrive with a July end shipping date. This time around, the pre-orders have an official date with the 16GB model included (which was missing from J&R’s pre-orders) and at a lower price.

Toshiba Thrive would be available in three variants with the 8GB model priced at $429, 16GB at $479 and 32GB at $579. The pre-orders kick off on June 13th with shipping date of July 10th. The pricing is tad on the higher side, second only to Motorola Xoom but Toshiba believes its brand would help carry the day.

For those of you who missed the beat, Toshiba Thrive is a 10″ Android Honeycomb 3.1 tablet powered by 1Ghz Nvidia Tegra 2 processor. Other detailing include SRS stereo speakers, Resolution Plus, Bluetooth, WiFi, HDMI, USB and mini USB. It supports SD memory expansion and has dual cameras, 2MP and 5MP.

The accessories option include multi-colored covers, HDMI dock, a standard dock, Bluetooth keyboard and Portfolio 360 case. Check Thrive’s product page for more details.

Toshiba 10-inch Honeycomb hits pre-order in US

Toshiba’s 10″ tablet had been spotted earlier in some leaked documents and patent filings which the Japanese company finally made official in Jan’11. Now, the tablet is up for pre-order US retailer J&R. The pre-order listing shows two capacity variants – 8GB for $499 and 32GB $579. A 16GB version is nowhere to be seen but we wouldn’t be surprised to see it listed sometime soon.

The tablet, dubbed Toshiba Thrive, features a 10″ capacitive multitouch screen with a resolution of 1280 x 800. It is powered by Nvidia Tegra 2 processor which clocks at 1GHz. Connectivity options include Bluetooth, WiFi, HDMI, miniUSB and USB. It supports SD memory expansion. Thrive has dual cameras 2MP and 5MP on the front and rear respectively. And most importantly, it runs Android 3.0 Honeycomb.

The pre-orders do not have an ETA, but are expected to be delivered in July end, same time when the tablet is released in Japan.
